WHERE & WHEN?

At the foot of the magnificent Wells Cathedral, from Friday 6th from 7pm to 7 am on Saturday 7th of March 2020.

WHY?

Sleeping rough so others don’t have to. Hundreds of young people every year spend at least one night on the streets. For every rough sleeper you may see in the community, there are dozens more who are sofa surfing, sleeping in cars, or on the move night after night. Shocking new research* has revealed that a homeless person is dying every 19 hours in austerity Britain. We want you to join us to prevent others becoming homeless through our YMCA Youth Work and the support we provide vulnerable people as they go through the challenging experience of homelessness and building a new life, during their stay at YMCA supported housing projects.

WHO?

This year you can join Sleep Easy as an individual, a family or by taking part in the Sleep Easy 2020 Team Challenge. There are 3 categories: Business – School – Parish.

HOW?

Challenge yourself, your family, friends or work colleagues to sleep rough for one night and raise money to help change the lives of vulnerable people. Build your cardboard shelter and sleep rough at the foot of the amazing Wells Cathedral. We will offer hot refreshments, a warm fire, team games, toilets and a covered area for families with children under 12.

Team deadline: 21st February 2020

Individual deadline: 1st March 2020

Sleep Easy merchandise orders: 23rd January 2020

WE HAVE SET UP THE GOAL OF £10,000!

“On behalf of the trustees and myself – I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who is considering supporting this wonderful fundraising activity. As a charity we want to reassure you that our central costs are covered through commissioned projects and social enterprise activities and therefore every penny your raise for us or donate to us, goes to the project you are supporting.” Mike Fairbeard – YMCA Mendip & South Somerset CEO & YMCA Bath Group CEO.

This means that the £10,000 will go straight to our vulnerable people.

THE FUNDS WILL ENABLE US TO CONTRIBUTE TOWARDS:

– Preventing homeless
issues through our universal Youth Work;

– Supporting vulnerable people as they go through the challenging experience of homelessness and building a new life.
Through our Supported Housing projects we provide: a safe place to stay, with support workers to take care of them; who listen, help and guide them onto a new path. The Pathways 2 Independence (P2i) Scheme helps young people to reach independence and work towards moving on; with floating support offering help even after they have moved into their own accommodation.

Click the button and sign up to Sleep Easy today.

One night really can make a lifetime of difference.
